話說我的OLAP cube 有個selection field，它對user的分析沒多大用處，反而拖累系統的efficiency，所以我決定移除它。移除了一段日子，main users也沒有什麼反對之聲。直到今天，影子（她離開了我的部門，回到以前的部門）打來電找我詢問那個selection field不見了的原因。
我解釋給她聽，但她有點不滿意。
影子說: 「...你知啦! 我地部門係最後既防守。我地要check下d人有冇入漏數! 如果入漏咗，我地要通知有關部門入返架! 冇左呢個selection field，有冇入漏的東西都出哂! 我地點check呀? 」
我說: 「有入就有數字，冇入就空白囉!點會check唔到?」
影子說: 「咁即係要遂個遂數check? 我地manually要做多一些cut and paste的動作。冇咗好唔方便...」
我心想: 「唓~~~！係你唔識用excel function 先至要遂個check!」
我說: 「咁...你係要日日做?」
影子說: 「每月一次! .....」
我心想: 「唓~~~！刪去了，你們不是做不到reports，只不過多做一點功夫。更何況一個月才做一次，有什麼不方便呀？加了這selection field，反而影響main users每天的工作效率呢！ 」
影子跟她同事極力要求加回這selection field，但她們的理由根本不充分。無論我怎解釋，她們也不明白，簡直是牛皮燈籠。大家在電話中爭持不下。
唉! 沒法子! 她們的level高過我，無論我說什麼，她們都不會聽啦! 繼續講下去也沒意思。為停止無謂的對話，我建議跟足球小將(他比影子的level高有點level，有他support我比較好)討論一下先。
足球小將知道後，叫我出一封email給她們，回覆她們的要求已被否決。他還提醒了我一件事，那就是OLAP cube是分析工具，不是用來去監察別人在系統中有沒有入錯數。對呀!為什麼我想不起呢?我寫了以下的email 跟她們解釋:
After discussion with 足球小將, we both think that data warehouse is an analysis tool, not an audit tool. Data integrity should be done before data is input into data warehouse. We highly recommend user continue to use data warehouse for XXX analysis.
If you want to trace back YYY, it is suggested to generate report from other systems, like AAA system.

幾分鐘後，我收到影子以下的email，她還cc給她同事、足球小將和我部另一位同事(level 比我高, 但不是in charge 我)
Will you inform user to cancel this select field in data cube?
Users won’t entry YYY in AAA system if the ZZZ is entry into BBB system before branch sales. ....If users use the AAA system to generate YYY report. So users should keep maintenance the YYY every month after used BBB system .
Moreover, AAA system is not all allow any users to access it.

不知大家看完後明不明白?故且勿論什麼系統，我就連翻譯她的內容也有問題。幸好，不止我一個看不懂，足球小將也不知她想說什麼。我大約get到的意思是我提意的AAA system 做不到。
我看完後有點生氣，第一:因為影子要我公告天下那個selection field 刪去了，好像要把這件事弄大。第二: 我只不過用我對系統僅餘認知作出提議(足球小將告訴我的)。如果你有更好的辦法，直接教你的同事可以了，用不著作文解釋AAA system不能這樣使用，還要cc給其他人!
我照著影子的指示，出了以下的email 給這OLAP cube users.
As CCC department request, let me remind all users again that selection field is cancelled in data warehouse. Without this, you can still trace back YYY. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact me... Thanks!
